The SNMP Amplification DDoS (SAD) attack saturates a target’s link with a stream of distributed UDP packets. The UDP protocol is not stateful and thus is unable to validate the IP addresses from the request origin. The attacker can distribute and increase the size of this DDoS attack.

As a community service, the Prolexic Security Engineering and Research Team (PLXsert) identifies DDoS threats and issues regular threat advisories. Get this DDoS threat report from Prolexic to learn how to protect your enterprise from a denial of service attack.

  • What makes the SAD attack dangerous
  • How to identify its unique attack signature
  • The SAD attack sequence
  • How to re-mediate and mitigate SAD attacks.
